You asked for more control over your workspace. More flexibility in how you arrange your thinking. Here it is: tabs, panels, and chat that lives right where you write.
Multi-Tab Workspace
Research rarely happens in one document at a time. You're reading a paper, checking your notes, referencing a map, drafting a synthesis. All at once.
Now Atlas supports that workflow. Open multiple documents in tabs and arrange them side-by-side. Split your view horizontally or vertically. Research on the left, writing on the right. Source PDF in one pane, notes in another, map below.
Drag tabs to rearrange them. Each tab remembers its scroll position and state. Switch away to check something, switch back, and you're exactly where you left off. The context you need stays visible while you work.
Chat Embedded in Notes
Sometimes you're writing and need to ask a quick question. You want to check a fact, get a suggestion, have the AI expand on a point. But switching to the chat panel breaks your flow.
Now chat can live inside your notes. Click the chat icon and a conversation panel appears inline, right next to your writing. Ask questions about what you're working on. The chat sees your note content, so it understands the context without you explaining.
"What's missing from this argument?" "How would you expand this section?" "Find me a source that supports this claim." The AI is right there, embedded in your thinking space.
Resizable Panels
Every panel in Atlas is now resizable. Drag edges to adjust.
Writing something long? Make the editor wider. Deep in a PDF? Expand the viewer. Want to focus? Collapse the sidebar entirely. Your layout is yours to control.
And it persists. Close Atlas, come back tomorrow, and your panels are exactly how you left them. The workspace remembers because you shouldn't have to.
Mermaid Diagrams
Paste Mermaid syntax and Atlas renders it as a live diagram.
graph TD
A[Start] --> B{Decision}
B -->|Yes| C[Action 1]
B -->|No| D[Action 2]
Flowcharts, sequence diagrams, class diagrams, state machines: whatever you need to visualize. The diagrams are live. Edit the syntax and watch them update in real-time.
For technical thinkers who already know Mermaid, this is instant visualization. For everyone else, it's a gateway into diagramming that doesn't require learning a new tool.
Improved
Several refinements to core features:
-
PDF zoom. Pinch to zoom on trackpads or use the new slider control. Get the exact zoom level you need for reading or presenting.
-
Reasoning UI. When Atlas generates a complex response, you can now see its thinking process. Watch how it considers different sources, weighs evidence, and arrives at conclusions.
-
Panel state. Persists reliably after refresh. No more re-arranging your layout every time you reload.
-
Large PDF handling. Even very large documents open smoothly. No more freezes or crashes on 500-page textbooks.
