How the generator works
- Add your source. Drop a PDF, document or presentation onto the page, or enter a YouTube video or website URL. File selection starts generation immediately.
- Watch the map appear. Atlas prepares the source text, then streams concepts and connections onto the canvas. You can cancel while it is working.
- Edit and download. Once the map is complete, inspect the relationships, adjust the cards and connections, and download an image or an editable canvas file.
Start with a file, video or website
The generator accepts one source at a time:
- PDF: a document with readable text.
- Docs and Slides: a DOCX document or PPTX presentation, converted to PDF for text extraction.
- YouTube: a single video with an available native transcript.
- Website: a public webpage with readable content.
Files can be up to 4 MiB and 50 pages or slides. Each source can contain up to 128,000 extracted characters. Oversized sources are rejected rather than silently shortened.
Scanned pages need OCR before you upload them. Images, diagrams and video frames are not interpreted. Atlas flags document pages without readable text.
Edit the connections and keep your work
After generation completes, edit text, move and resize cards, add or remove cards and connections, and undo or redo edits. Pan, zoom and fit-to-view help you explore the result.
Download your latest edits as PNG, JPG, SVG or an editable .canvas file. Generation, editing and downloads do not require signup. Your work stays in the current tab; saving directly into an Atlas project is not included.
The tool shares a capacity of 50 attempts per UTC day across all visitors. Preparation failures, cancellation after admission and retries consume attempts. The allowance resets at midnight UTC.
What is a concept map?
A concept map organizes ideas and shows how they relate. Concepts appear as nodes, and connections describe relationships between them. Reading a connection as a short statement helps you check whether it makes sense.
A mind map usually branches outward from one central topic. A concept map can show connections between different parts of a subject, including causes, dependencies and contrasting ideas.
