Use these terms consistently when you read Atlas documentation or contact support.

Define the approved public names for product objects, controls, states, plans, and agent concepts. Link terms to their canonical articles.
Research objects
- Project: The boundary that contains one body of research.
- Folder: An organizational container for supported project items.
- Source: Material Atlas processes for reading, retrieval, summaries, and citations.
- Chat: A saved conversation in a project.
- Note: Editable writing stored in a project.
- Citation: A link from an answer to supporting source evidence.
- Mention: An explicit reference that adds a project item to the current writing or chat context.
Maps and agent terms
- Knowledge map: A visual structure generated for a selected source or note.
- Semantic map: A project-level view of themes and similarity across material.
- Grounded answer: An answer constrained by available evidence and linked citations.
- Agent tool: A bounded action the Atlas agent or an authorized MCP client can request.
- Processing: The validation, extraction, and indexing work that prepares a source for retrieval.
