Write your first note

Notes give you a place to keep useful findings from your research. This guide shows you how to create a note, add a short finding, and confirm that Atlas saved it.

Create a note

  1. Open the project where you want to keep the note.
  2. Select New in the left sidebar.
  3. Select Note.

Atlas opens a new note with a title field and an empty page.

Write down what you found

  1. Replace New note with a title that will help you recognize the note later.
  2. Write the finding in the note body.
  3. Add the source or explanation you will need when you return to the note.

For example, a note titled Why the study excludes small samples could include the study's explanation and what it means for your project.

Wait for Atlas to save the note

Atlas saves your changes as you write. Wait for Saved to appear at the bottom of the editor before you close the note.

If the editor shows Unsaved or Offline, keep the note open and use Note save, sync, and conflict states to choose the right recovery step.

Next step

The Note editor reference explains the formatting, links, mentions, and other content you can add to a note.
