Note save, sync, and conflict states
Atlas saves note changes while you write. The status at the bottom of the editor shows whether the current changes were saved or need attention.
Save states
| State | Meaning | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Saved | Atlas accepted the current title and page changes. | You can continue working or close the note. |
| Unsaved | Atlas could not save a change. The latest text remains in the editor. | Keep the note open and follow the recovery steps below. |
| Offline | Your browser is offline. | Reconnect before you close or reload the note. |
No status appears while a save is still in progress.
When a note is unsaved
Atlas retries some temporary failures. If Unsaved remains:
- Keep the note open.
- Copy any text you cannot easily recreate.
- Check that you are signed in and online.
- Make another small edit to retry the save.
- Wait for Saved.
Atlas does not automatically retry an authorization or content-validation failure. If the editor says that a save would remove the note's Markdown structure, your text is still in the editor. Copy the text before you reload or replace the note.
When a note changed elsewhere
If Atlas receives a newer saved version, the editor shows Note updated elsewhere. If only the title changed, it shows Filename changed elsewhere.
The notice offers three controls:
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Reload | Load the newer saved version. If the note body has local changes, Atlas asks before replacing them. |
| Keep mine | Save the text currently in this editor over the newer saved version. |
| Dismiss | Hide the notice without choosing either version. |
Compare or copy the local text before you choose Reload or Keep mine. Either choice can replace changes from the other version.
Reload a newer saved version
If the editor contains local body changes, selecting Reload opens Replace unsaved changes?
- Select Cancel to return to the note without replacing the local text.
- Select Replace changes to discard the local body changes and load the latest saved version.
If there are no local body changes, Reload loads the newer saved version without this confirmation.
When the problem continues
Keep the note open and copy the current text before refreshing the page. Then use Get help and contact support and include the visible status or conflict message.
