Note editor
The note editor combines a title, a Markdown-backed writing area, project links, and automatic saving. Use this reference when you need to find a formatting control or understand an editor state.
Format a note
The editor supports these kinds of content:

Select text to open the inline formatting menu. It includes Bold, Italic, Underline, Clear format, Link, Strikethrough, Inline code, and Equation. The desktop editor also offers highlight colors.
Atlas stores note content as Markdown. Content pasted or imported from another editor can look different after Atlas converts it to the note format.
Connect a note to project items
Type @ to search for a source, note, chat, or folder in the current project. Select an item to insert a mention at the cursor.
You can also add ordinary web links. Selecting linked text opens the link control so you can open, change, or remove the destination.
Work with the title and page
The title appears above the note body. Press Enter in the title field to move to the page.
On desktop, the editor builds a table of contents from headings. Blocks can also be selected, moved, or changed to another supported block type.
Find text in a note
Click inside the note panel and press Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows or Linux. Type a word or phrase in Search. The counter shows the current result and total, such as 1 of 8.
Use Next result or Enter to move forward, and Previous result or Shift+Enter to move backward. Navigation wraps after the last result. Press Escape or select Close search to return to the note. Reopening Find restores your query for that note.
Search ignores letter case and highlights text in the note body without editing or saving it. The title, embedded documents, and diagram or equation contents are not included.
Save states
Atlas saves the title and page while you write.

| Saved | Atlas accepted the current title and page changes. |
| Unsaved | Atlas could not save a change. Your latest text remains in the editor. |
| Offline | Your browser is offline. Atlas cannot save new changes until the connection returns. |
