Atlas agent tools and limits
The Atlas agent can read and search project material, create and edit supported project items, work with sources and maps, and explain product help. Available tools depend on the current surface and authorization.
What this page covers
Public inventory of available tools, user-visible effects, authorization boundaries, unsupported actions, and plan limits.
What the agent can do
The in-product agent can use project-scoped tools for notes, sources, chats, citations, highlights, links, and knowledge maps. Some changes are proposed for review before they become saved map truth. Network-backed source and search tools can access public material.
Authorization and limits
The agent operates in the current project and account. It cannot infer live billing state, bypass a plan limit, access another user's private project, or treat unsupported content as evidence. Destructive actions require a clear target and confirmation.
Tool availability can differ between Atlas chat and Atlas MCP. A tool failure does not prove that an item is missing. Check the current project, item name, processing state, and plan status before retrying.
