Follow citations back to a source
Atlas places numbered citations beside supported parts of an answer. Open a citation to see the source, note, chat, or web page connected to that claim.
Open a citation
- Find the claim you want to check in the chat response.
- Select the numbered citation beside it.
- If you prefer to browse all cited items, select the source or sources control below the answer and choose an item from the list.
- Read the material that opens.
PDF citations can open a page or passage when Atlas has a precise location. Other citations can open the related project item or external URL.
Compare the claim with the material
Read the cited passage and enough surrounding text to understand it. Compare it with the wording in the answer:
- Does the citation open the item you expected?
- Does the material support the claim?
- Does the surrounding text add a condition or limitation?
- Does the answer say more than the cited material does?
If the material does not support the wording, ask Atlas to answer from that passage or revise the question.
If the citation is missing or unhelpful
If a claim has no citation, ask for the supporting material from a named source. If a citation points to related but unhelpful material, mention the source or passage you want Atlas to use and ask again.
If a citation does not open, find the item by name in the project. The citation may identify the right item even when a precise page or passage is unavailable. See Troubleshoot chat and citations if the problem continues.
