Use web search

Web search lets Atlas look beyond the current project for a chat response. The answer can cite the pages it found, and you can add a useful page to the project for later work.

Turn on Web search

1. Open the scope selector beside + in a chat.
2. Select External only to search outside sources, or All to also use project tools.
3. Keep Web enabled. Turn off Literature if you want web search alone.
4. Enter your question and select Send.

For example, ask: "What has this organization published about the topic since 2025?" Include names, dates, or other details that narrow the search.

Open the cited pages

Select a citation in the answer to open its web page. Read the page itself when you need details that may not fit in the result shown to Atlas.

If the results miss the topic, revise the query with a name, phrase, date, or domain.

Add a result to the project

Web results are not automatically added to the project. To keep working with a page as a project source:

1. Open the cited page and copy its URL.
2. Follow Add a website to add the URL.
3. Wait for the source to finish processing.

The saved page can then appear in project searches and later chat questions.

To ask Atlas to import a URL for you, use All and explicitly request the import. Manual imports work independently of chat scope. Changing scope affects new retrieval. earlier chat context remains available.
