Manage chats and answer controls

Use chats to keep related questions and answers together. Chat management changes the conversation record. answer controls change only the current generation.

What this page covers

Create, open, switch, rename, and delete chats. stop, retry, and continue an answer. explain persistent and transient states.

Manage a chat

Use New chat to start a separate conversation. Open an existing chat from the project sidebar. Use its item menu to rename or delete it. Deletion is permanent, so confirm that you selected the correct chat.

Control an answer

Use Stop while Atlas is generating to end the current response. Use the retry control when generation fails or you want a fresh response to the same request. Continue with a follow-up message when you want Atlas to preserve the conversation context.

A stopped or failed response can be incomplete. Verify its citations before using it. Starting a new chat does not delete the old one or move project items.
