Add files to chat
You can add documents and images while writing a chat question. Documents become project sources. Images stay attached to that message.
Add a document
- Open a chat in the project where you want to add the document.
- Select the + control in the composer.
- Choose PDF, DOCX, or PPTX.
- Select the file.
- Wait for Atlas to prepare it, then enter your question and select Send.
The document is added to the current project and mentioned in the question. You can also drag a supported document onto the composer.
Add an image
Drag or paste a PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP image into the composer. A preview appears beside your question. Select the preview to remove the image before sending.
File types and limits

You can add up to 10 files to a message. Atlas may show a lower remaining capacity when the project has reached a plan or fair-use limit.
Ask about the file
Enter a question that names what you want to understand. For example:
Summarize the main argument in this file.Compare this PDF with @Source A. Cite the evidence for each difference.What claim in this image needs further checking?
If a file is rejected
Read the message below the composer. It identifies an unsupported format, an oversized file, or too many selected files.
Remove the affected file and choose a supported file within the limit. If a document remains unavailable after upload, use Troubleshoot source processing.
