Tool scope
Choose Project only, External only, or All in the chat composer to control which tools Atlas can use for your next message. The choice stays selected after you send.

New chats start with All, with Web and Literature enabled. The composer restores your saved scope preference when one is available. An empty project can still discuss text you supply or create a note you request.
Scope applies to new tool use and automatic context retrieval. Earlier chat context remains available, including material found under another scope. Changing scope does not erase that information. Text and attachments you explicitly supply remain inputs.
Choose external channels
Open the scope menu and select External only or All, then choose Web, Literature, or both. At least one channel must stay enabled. The trigger includes the channel name when only one is enabled, such as All · Literature.
Web returns public web excerpts and URLs. Literature returns scholarly metadata, abstracts, and available PDF URLs. Search results can be incomplete. An abstract or excerpt is not the full source. Atlas searches when needed to answer your question, rather than running every selected channel automatically.
Scope cannot change while an answer is running. Retrying or editing an earlier question uses the settings submitted with that question.
Work with project sources
Type @ to mention an item or folder when using Project only or All. External only skips new project mention, folder, map, and open-item retrieval.
Manual source uploads and imports remain available independently of chat scope. To ask the agent to import a supplied URL, select All. For details, see Use web search.
