Tabs and split view

Tabs keep sources, notes, chats, folders, and maps open while you move between them. A split layout keeps two workspace areas visible at the same time.

Open and switch tabs

Select an item in the left panel to open it. If the item already has a tab, Atlas returns to that tab. Select any tab heading to bring it into view.

Arrange two workspace areas

Drag a source or note from the left panel toward an available split target in the main workspace. Drop it when the target highlights. Atlas opens a separate tab instance in that area.

This lets you keep a source visible while writing a note, or place two sources beside each other. The two areas keep their own active tabs.

Close a tab

Select the close control on the tab. Atlas removes the tab from the workspace and activates another open tab when one is available.

Closing a tab does not delete its source, note, chat, or map. Open the item from the left panel to return to it.
