Browser extension permissions and troubleshooting

Extension permissions let Atlas identify the active page, open its sidebar surface, and communicate with Atlas. They do not make every webpage extractable.

Permission boundaries

Use the extension only on material you are authorized to process. Atlas receives the page information needed for the action you request and associates created research with the selected account and project. Browser-restricted pages, internal browser URLs, local files, and authenticated content can be unavailable.

The extension cannot read a page

Confirm that the page uses HTTP or HTTPS and is publicly accessible. Reload the page, reopen the extension, and verify your Atlas sign-in and selected project. If the site blocks extraction, add a supported public URL or PDF directly in Atlas instead.

Sign-in or project selection fails

Allow the extension to communicate with Atlas, then sign in again. Remove and reinstall the extension only after preserving unsaved work.
