Atlas MCP setup, capabilities, and limits

Atlas MCP connects a compatible AI client to one Atlas project through a project-scoped HTTPS endpoint and OAuth. Start at /mcp in Atlas to build the correct connection URL.

What this page covers

Public setup from /mcp, authentication and consent, supported clients, capabilities, limits, revocation, and troubleshooting.

Connect Atlas MCP

  1. Open the Atlas MCP setup page.
  2. Select a project you own.
  3. Copy the setup command or endpoint for your client.
  4. Complete the Atlas OAuth sign-in and consent flow.
  5. Ask the client to list Atlas tools, then begin with List or Read.

Capabilities and boundaries

Atlas MCP can expose project-scoped read, list, search, write, edit, highlight, delete, source, link, map, and help tools. Remote URL actions can access public networks. Local PDF uploads remain in the Atlas web app. Map edits can require review in Atlas.

The connection cannot access projects you do not own. Delete is permanent and requires an explicit target confirmation. Remove the connection in the client and revoke access when you no longer use it.
