What stays Anytype-specific

Custom object types do not migrate as objects. Atlas uses sources, projects, chats, Knowledge Maps, Semantic Maps, and notes. It does not use user-defined object types. Sets and collections do not migrate either.

The closest Atlas match is the Semantic Map's topic view, which clusters by meaning rather than by a manual filter. Custom relations become flat fields instead of links. End-to-end encryption and local-only storage remain Anytype-specific because Atlas runs in the cloud.

Export your Anytype workspace as markdown and ZIP, then pull out the PDFs. Upload a representative batch to Atlas and confirm that each source processes correctly before moving the rest.

Group imported material around each research question rather than its file type. Once the corpus is in, synthesize the relevant sources and inspect the citations before relying on the result.

Keep the Anytype vault as a cold archive for material that does not need cited reasoning or Knowledge Maps.

Can Atlas citations export?

Test Atlas's available export paths with one representative answer before choosing it as part of a long-term archive. Knowledge Maps and Semantic Maps are Atlas-native surfaces, so they do not become Anytype objects. When Anytype remains the archive, preserve the original PDFs and authored notes there. Atlas can then serve as the analysis workspace without assuming every generated surface will round-trip.

Does Atlas provide local ownership?
