Delete your account
Account deletion is a permanent account action. Treat it differently from deleting a project or canceling a subscription: account deletion can remove access to the Atlas identity and the work attached to it.
Before deleting
Check these items before you confirm deletion:
- You are signed in to the account you actually want to delete.
- You have copied or exported any work you need to keep, where export is available.
- You have reviewed active billing in Manage billing.
- You understand that deleting an account is not the same as clearing a single project.
If you only want to remove one research project, delete or archive that project instead of deleting the whole account.
Delete the account
- Open account settings.
- Find the account deletion action.
- Read the confirmation text in full.
- Confirm the account email.
- Complete the required confirmation step.
If the flow asks you to type a confirmation phrase, type it exactly. This prevents accidental deletion when multiple browser sessions or accounts are open.
After deletion
After the flow completes, the deleted account should no longer behave like an active Atlas account. If you are redirected to sign-in, do not use that as proof by itself. Confirm that the account deletion action completed first.
Some external systems, such as payment processors or email delivery systems, may retain limited records required for legal, security, billing, or compliance reasons. Account deletion should be understood as a product-account deletion, not as a guarantee that every operational record disappears immediately.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |

| Delete option is unavailable | Check that you are signed in and using the account settings page for the correct account. |
| You are unsure which account is active | Cancel, sign out, sign back in with the intended email, and restart the deletion flow. |
| You still have billing questions | Resolve billing first. Deletion should not be used as a substitute for understanding subscription state. |
| You deleted the wrong account | Contact support immediately with the account email and approximate deletion time. Recovery may not be possible. |
